about

Claudie Joy & The Joy Boys is the band project behind young WA musician Claudia Tero, who is fast gaining a small but dedicated following through her quirky stage presence and her earnest-yet-playful lyrics, “lyrics with a lingering sense of melancholy” (Mark Neil). Taking inspiration from great Australian storytellers such as Paul Kelly and Courtney Barnett, Claudie brings together the crunchiest parts of indie rock and folk into the delightful mess of sincerity, honesty and obscurity that has seen her charm audiences all over Perth during her recent ventures.

“Honey” was written in the dust ridden caravan lodged in Claudie Joy’s backyard, just about held together by the asbestos tiles and peeling led paint. The song about summer came just as winter encroached, and was written as a nostalgic collage collecting the last 20 summers that have past. Honey could be described as an indie pop ballad that sings of the memorable moments that come with the summer air and the golden light that touches the roads as the sun sets.
